The 2019 Nissan Altima is a midsize family sedan that excites buyers with powerful engines, a refined ride and excellent fuel economy. According to the SLO area auto dealer, the Nissan Altima gets a complete redesign for 2019, with updated styling, more safety technology and improved handling. The standard four-cylinder engine has been revised, and there’s a new turbo-four unit. All-wheel drive is now available.
The 2019 Nissan Altima seats five passengers and is offered in five trim levels, listed as S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum. Under the hood is a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder powerplant that produces 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque, mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This engine comes with front-wheel drive, and buyers can choose an optional all-wheel-drive system. The SR and Platinum trims have an available 2.0-liter turbo-four that’s good for 248 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. This block is also connected to the CVT and is front-wheel drive only.
The 2019 Nissan Altima is very fuel efficient. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2.5-liter engine with front-wheel drive is 28 mpg city/39 mpg highway, while all-wheel-drive models return 26 mpg city/36 mpg highway.* The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine checks in with 25 mpg city/34 mpg highway.

The Altima gets standard features that include an eight-way power driver’s seat, remote engine start, an 8-inch display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four USB charging ports and Bluetooth. Standard safety technology includes a driver alertness system, automatic emergency braking, a rear-door alert and a rear-view monitor. Available safety features include ProPILOT Assist, an around-view monitor, the Safety Shield 360 system and rear sonar parking sensors.
Everyone will enjoy the 2019 Nissan Altima’s many optional comfort and convenience features, including dual-zone climate control, a moonroof, heated front seats, driver-side memory, a four-way power front passenger seat, leather seats, two-way driver-side power lumbar support, a heated steering wheel and navigation. Music lovers will appreciate the premium Bose audio system with nine speakers. Available features for the upper trims include 19-inch wheels, LED fog lights and heated exterior mirrors with LED turn-signal indicators.
The IIHS gave the 2019 Nissan Altima its top score of Good in all crash tests and named it one of its Top Safety Pick models.
