San Luis Obispo Area Car Dealers Compare
The 2019 Nissan Altima vs 2019 Honda Accord

The 2019 Nissan Altima is one of the most popular cars in America. The Altima gets a redesign for 2019 that brings even more attractive styling, two new engines, optional all-wheel drive, and a wide array of advanced driver-assistance features. According to the San Luis Obispo Car dealership, the Altima sets the standard that rival midsize family sedans must now strive to meet. Let’s examine the Altima and a popular competitor, the 2019 Honda Accord, and see which one comes out ahead.

Compare Performance

When you test drive the 2019 Nissan Altima at a dealership at a car dealer near San Luis Obispo, you’ll experience its engaging performance and balanced handling that’s the result of a low center of gravity and a wide stance. The performance-oriented Altima SR trim gets standard sport-tuned suspension dampers. The 2019 Honda Accord is enjoyable to drive, but the Altima offers all-wheel drive, something you can’t get in the HondaAccord. Altima drivers who need to negotiate wet or icy roads will appreciate the extra traction afforded by the AWD system.

Compare Interior

Both the Nissan Altima and the Honda Accord provide ample space to stretch out, with room for five passengers. However, only the Altima gets Zero Gravity front seats. These NASA-inspired seats were specially engineered to keep occupants’ bodies situated in a natural position, which keeps them more relaxed, even on longer drives.

Standard Features

The Honda Accord comes with a nice set of standard features. However, the Nissan Altima includes the  NissanConnect infotainment system, which features a high-resolution interface, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Honda Accord only gets a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen. More significantly, the Accord doesn’t offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Altima drivers appreciate the standard flat-bottom steering wheel, which frees up more space for their knees. The new Altima gets four standard USB ports, while the base Accord only gets one USB port.

Safety

Both sedans are very safe vehicles, and both received Top Safety Pick designations by the IIHS. However, the Altima has some exclusive available safety technology that you won’t find in the Honda Accord. While the Honda Accord gets forward collision braking, the Altima takes it to the next level by offering rear automatic braking. Meanwhile, Nissan’s optional 360-degree camera system makes it easier to park the Altima. Featuring stop-and-go adaptive cruise control and self-steering, ProPilot Assist lets drivers experience hands-free driving.

Appearance

Honda has done a good job keeping the 2019 Accord looking modern, but it just doesn’t approach the same level of design as the 2019 Nissan Altima. Aggressive headlamps and a bold V-Motion grille help the Altima make a serious statement. The Nissan Altima also comes in exclusive colors like Sunset Drift Chromaflair.

Our Final Word

The 2019 Honda Accord has many good qualities, but when you compare it head to head with the 2019 Nissan Altima, it’s easy to see that the Accord it’s overshadowed by the Altima in several important areas. That’s the reason we declare the Nissan Altima the winner in this competition.
