2016 is looking very good for the Nissan Murano. After winning the “Best Cars for the Money” award in February, the editors of U.S. News & World Report have named the car “Best 2-Row SUV for Families”. The award comes as a recognition for the best mix of professional reviews, seating, safety and reliability, cargo volume and availability of features that are family friendly. There are 21 categories and the Murano won the award for 2-Row SUVs.

The editors decided to announce Murano as the winner after it entered the market as a midsize SUV and won customer adulation for its refined luxury. If value for money is on one hand, on the other is interior space, safety rating and family-friendly features, all of which are packed into the Murano.

Vice president and Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing, Dan Mohnke said that the company is honored by the adulation and recognition it has received. Post the award, the sales of the Nissan Murano has sky-rocketed with 85% boost in February and projected 65% for the current year as compared to sales in 2015.

The Nissan Murano was unveiled as a crossover with striking LED boomerang lights, floating roof and V-motion front-end. If the exterior makes you fall in love, the interior design initiates a love affair of a lifetime. The Murano is not an “all beauty, no brains” model, it is packed with the most advanced technology of NissanConnectSM with navigation, Around View® Monitor, to name a few.

The 2016 Nissan Murano is available at Coast Nissan. Do check it out.

Nissan

2016 is promising for Nissan, with winning the Best Car in the 2-row SUV segment and now receiving the Chairman Award at the 42nd Annual National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) convention in Boston. Once a year, the NSBE recognizes a company from the NSBE board of Corporate Affiliates for its outstanding contribution and unending support to the accomplishments and goals of the NSBE and its members.

NSBE’s Executive Director, Karl W. Reid said that the members decided unanimously that for 2016, the rightful recipient is Nissan as a token of appreciation for its commitment to the NBSE vision to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, make a positive impact on the country and succeed professionally.

Nissan has never failed to support the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) programs held in Atlanta, Chicago and Jackson, Mississippi. The program is curated by NSBE and led by technical professionals and engineering students and is aimed at being a fun, engaging educational experience for children.

The program caters to elementary and middle school children and is for duration of three weeks. Topics covered in the SEEK program include science, math, product development, problem solving and team activities.

Nissan Continues to be as Reliable as the Best Cars in the World

Monday, April 25th, 2016

Nissan 3

Many people often have a pertinent query when they are planning to purchase a new vehicle from Nissan. Is it as reliable as compared to other brands such as Toyota and Honda? Actually, the answer is not as simple as it seems. That’s because there are many factors that should be considered before replying to this query such as what model, make and year of manufacturer you are trying to compare between them. One thing is sure. Nissan is as reliable as its rivals Honda and Toyota for vehicles in the same segments.

If you are focused about the maintenance of your vehicle’s engine, then a Nissan vehicle is the most preferred one. The reason is that most of Nissan’s variants have timing chains as opposed to the belts for Toyota or Honda.

You need to do a bit of a research so that you get proper clarity on the common issues that are prevalent in cars if you are not planning to go for a brand new car.

If you take any of these three manufacturers into consideration, they all manufactured cars in the mid-nineties that were rated quite highly and needed decent maintenance even after going for 200 to 200k miles or even over that. However, if you go a decade ahead into the future for any of these cars, you can find that there had been drastic changes in the cars of all of these three manufacturers.

If you want to test drive a Nissan, you can drop in at Coast Nissan.

  • On the Pathfinder Hybrid, the battery secures itself snugly under the passenger seat on the third row.
  • With this range of models, there is no difference in the capacity for cargo or passengers – it is very roomy.
  • The hybrid’s 2.5-liter inline four cylinder has been aligned on the vehicle with a supercharger. This provides the car with amazing horsepower and torque at about 243 pound feet.
  • The downsized internal combustible engines give the vehicle the pep and charge required.
  • Added to the technology available on the machine, you have continuous variable transmissions with the advanced Xtronic CVT. This powers the gas and electric motors. With this technology in place, you get automatic transmissions.

Nissan’s Smart Rearview Mirror

Monday, April 18th, 2016

rearview-mirror-backup-camera

The Nissan Rogue is equipped with the latest tech gadget – the Smart rearview mirror. The mirror is an extension of a traditional one, which transforms into a video screen. When you flip the dimmer switch to go to the night driving mode, you automatically switch to video camera mode. The feed is streamed from a camera that is tucked away in the boot. This gives you a clear view of what is behind you. By taking the next step into technological advancement, Nissan has made it easy for the driver to see beyond headrests, tall passengers and copious quantities of baggage.

With this new technology, you can also switch over to the regular rearview mode. That being said, not many would want to go old school with you have the LCD screen mode on which gives you the advantage of parallel parking and other issues associated with driving. One of the best advantages is that you do not have to turn your head while backing out of the driveway. For instance, you can actually see a fair amount of space without shifting your gaze elsewhere. Without being distracted for the driver as is with a regular mirror, your drive will be a breeze.

The price of the Smart rearview mirror will be factored into the pricing of a new car and is definitely a feature that you want on your vehicle. This LCD monitor in sum provides the driver with an unobstructed view of the rear. With this technology in place, you can check blind spots and any other conditions with clear imagery. The clarity of images is noticeable in any climate.

Visit Coast Nissan for more information on their Smart rearview mirror.

Nissan’s HR12DDR Engine

Monday, April 11th, 2016

hr12de_1

The Nissan’s HR12DDR engine is designed to reduce the fuel consumption while still promising a smooth driving experience. The emission volume is decreased and the efficiency of the engine is enhanced so as to reduce fuel consumption as compared to the general gas engines.

The HR12DDR engine utilizes a supercharger for achieving the required power. In vehicles using a gasoline engine, it is obvious that more or less 20% of energy is utilized in gaining energy through burnt gas. But, the case is different when it comes to HR12DDR, as 20% of the energy produced is utilized efficiently by various systems of the car.

The engine increases fuel efficiency by reducing friction and pumping loss. It also enhances the heat efficiency, in turn reducing the consumption of fuel. Friction can be reduced by 10 % if the metal parts are coated with special friction-reducing agents. Also, reducing tension in the moving belts helps reduce the among of friction.

The 4 stroke gasoline engine follows a cycle to generate energy. The cycle starts with intake of fuel, which gets compressed and combusted and is finally given out through the exhaust. If the air suction becomes difficult then there are chances of fuel being wasted at the time of intake. So, Nissan’s HR12DDR engine uses the technique of the miller cycle which can delay the closure of intake in order to reduce wastage.

To improve the heat efficiency, the ratio of compression in the HR12DDR engine is increased to 12:1 by the help of supercharger. For more details on Nissan’s HR12DDR engine, please visit Coast Nissan.
