Join Nissan In Charting A Path Into The Future Of Car Driving

shutterstock_251998009

Self-driving cars are the way of the future. Numerous studies and many experts all agree that in the future we won’t have to drive ourselves to work each morning. Now you can enjoy your coffee and music in bliss as the car adapts to the road and other drivers all on its own. But when will these cars be available? Surprisingly, Nissan has already managed to create an autonomous car that will be out for testing in Japan in the next year, named the #ProPILOT.

While an autonomous car still requires a small amount user input, it’s the closest thing on the market right now to a true self-driving car. The Nissan ProPILOT is a compact car that was designed to navigate on highways in single lane traffic. The system consists of a number of cameras and sensors that monitor how the cars in front and behind are changing speed. It’s easy to turn on with a simple switch, and will help ease the stress of gridlock highway traffic on the way to and from work.

Interestingly, the ProPILOT technology is actually in testing right now, but in a form that you might not expect: chairs. You may have seen a short video with some chairs that move on their own and pick up people as they wait in line (if not just look up Nissan Autonomous Chairs). These chairs are based on the same technology and can automatically follow the chairs in front of them at a set distance. This can make waiting in line much easier and more comfortable.

Nissan is hard at work developing the most advanced technology, and you can expect the same standard on all the current models. So come test drive a Nissan Altima or Leaf for yourself at Coast Nissan, or check out all our cars online at www.coastnissan.com.

The New Nissan Versa Is A Perfect Economic Sedan

Nissan versa

In the world of sedans, there is no shortage of different makes and models. In fact, the market has been so completely flooded with these compact cars that it can be difficult to stand out from the rest. But standing out from the competition has never been a problem for the Nissan Versa, which has received upgrades to its design and features in 2017.

The #NissanVersa, which comes in both a sedan or a hatchback to meet your specific needs, is a long standing veteran that has proven itself to be worth much more than its low price point would suggest. The Versa is one of the most economic sedans available right now, with a low base price and a fuel economy that won’t tax your wallet and an estimated 31 city and 39 highway mpg. This is thanks to the engine, which has been equipped with continuously variable transmission to output a solid 109 horsepower, perfect for this lighter sedan.

Nissan has worked to upgrade the interior over the past year, expanding the back row of seats in order to make even more room for passengers and cargo. The Versa comfortably fits passengers into its small but deceptively spacious design. It also received a brand new grille and swept-back headlights for a bolder look that is reminiscent of the larger Altima, another one of Nissan’s best-selling sedans.

To experience a test drive in the Nissan Versa or any other sedan in our extensive line-up, visit our friendly sales team at Coast Nissan. You’ll find top of the line deals and fantastic service from our staff, and you can also visit us online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan CEO Unveils New Plans For Future Designs At Auto Show

shutterstock_191693912

When it comes to creating new features for drivers and developing the latest high tech designs, Nissan is always pushing the limits. Trucks like the Nissan Titan have the easiest to use and most responsive towing systems, while sedans like the #NissanAltima dominate the class, thanks to their design and utility. At the annual Paris Auto Show, CEO of Nissan Carlos Ghosn spilled the secrets on the future of Nissan cars, and left the audience in wonder and excitement.

The newest development is Nissan’s partnership with Microsoft, which had been previously announced but was expanded on by Ghosn. He mentioned that the duo would be working to better integrate vehicle software and compatibility across all models. Most automakers do not necessarily have experts in vehicle software, but with Microsoft Nissan can improve the user interface and make driving simpler and more seamless. This partnership has already shown promise with the implementation of better smartphone connectivity found in the latest 2017 Nissan cars.

The second big talking point was the production of self-driving cars, which Nissan has already had success with in Japan with the ProPilot. Though the ProPilot is only partially autonomous, Ghoson added that Nissan plans to release at least 10 different mostly self-driving cars by 2020, even if they do require some driver input. He expects a completely driverless car will be available by 2025. He also argued that the car will still remain a personalized space for each owner, even with this implementation.

Though self-driving cars won’t be here for another few years, you can be sure the entire Nissan fleet has the latest features and most useful technology. Come test drive any of the new line-up at Coast Nissan, or check us out online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Brings Faster Charging And More Range To The New Leaf

Nissan 4 revealed the 2016 LEAF

With Chevy having released the specs for their new Bolt and Tesla continuing to pump out improvements, many have been wondering when Nissan would announce the changes to their electric car, the Leaf. Well wonder no more. With the 2017 update, Nissan has expanded the mileage range and updated the charging speed with a new 30-kWh battery pack.

The #NissanLeaf was the first economic electric car on the market, and it has continued to evolve in efficiency, speed and reliability over the years. For 2017, the previous 24-kWh battery packed was upgraded to a 30-kWh battery that enhances the range from approximately 85 miles to a powerful 107 miles. This is more than enough for most American’s daily needs, which is typically around 30 miles. Even when moving around the kids from school and heading to work, the total distance is well within the driving limits of the Leaf. And in order to help people who want to take longer road trips or vacation drives, Nissan has some helpful developments.

The latest Leaf has DC fast charging technology standard across the whole fleet, which can power you up quickly while on the go. Additionally, many companies, including Nissan, have invested heavily into implementing new fast charging stations in cities all across the country. This way, charging up is fast, easy and cheap, especially with Nissan’s new program which will provide new Leaf owners with free charging at these stations for two years. Say hello to saving not only on gas, but on electricity as well!

To be a part of the quickly growing electric car craze, head down to Coast Nissan for an exciting test drive. You can also check us out online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Celebrates 25th Anniversary Of Racing Victory

Nissan gt-r

Almost every major car production company has some investment into the racing scene. From sponsoring drivers in their goals to developing the fastest and most successful engines and parts, manufacturers like Nissan have put countless hours into the sport. It’s a great way to promote the best technology they can offer, as well as provide entertainment for millions of fans. This year, Nissan is celebrating its 25th anniversary of its 1991 Bathurst 1000 victory at the race in Australia’s Mount Panorama.

This year, Nissan will proudly race a NISMO Altima Supercar specially designed for this event, adorned in red, white and blue. This powerful car combines precise handling with a 600 hp engine that quickly accelerates the car to breathtaking speeds. The actual design is based off a combination of Nissan’s best-selling Altima and award winning sports car GT-R Nismo. This Supercar is in excellent position to claim a record-breaking victory at this year’s event.

The 1991 Nissan victory was a display of pure domination using a GT-R model. This victory quickly became legendary as it completed the race with a time that would go unbeaten for 19 years. This is an astounding feat considering how much engines have improved since then. The modern Nissan GT-R heralds from this tradition of racing excellence and design, and you can truly feel the race car within when behind the wheel of this stellar car.

The newest #NissanGTR models are waiting for you at Coast Nissan. Come take a drive in a car that shaped racing for almost two decades. You can always check out our entire inventory of new and pre-owned vehicles online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Reveals New Engine That Could Replace Diesel Engines In Trucks

Nissan

Diesel engines were a mainstay of the truck industry for many years, but as countries tighten emission standards in order to protect the environment, they have begun to fall off in use. While a diesel engine produces less CO2 than a traditional gasoline engine, its emits two potentially more dangerous gases: nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide (commonly abbreviated NOx). As such, car companies have been scrambling to develop alternatives to use in their pickups. Recently, Nissan unveiled a brand new VC-Turbo gasoline engine that could replace older diesel engines in its pickups like the Nissan Titan.

The Paris Auto Show this year was significant because of the sheer number of electric car announcements, but also the first public showcase of the #VCTurbo engine. It has all the power people have come to expect from diesel, but doesn’t emit any harmful NOx gases. The engine matches the performance of turbocharged gas engines, including its torque and fuel economy, but with the low CO2 output of traditional diesel engines. It can even perform on the same level as the latest hybrid powertrain engines that have dominated the fuel efficiency leaderboards.

The VC-Turbo engine is capable of these amazing feats due to the introduction of a variable compression ratio. Engines normally have a set compression ratio that can be great for a certain driving situation but lackluster in others, so being able to change this ratio to adapt to the situation will enhance performance and fuel economy. This is sure to have a major impact on car manufacturing, and Reuters recently commented that it, “…may make some of today’s advanced diesel engines obsolete.”

For a look at the most fuel efficient cars made with forward-thinking design, visit our friendly staff at Coast Nissan. And if you can’t make it into our dealership, check out our extensive inventory of new and pre-owned vehicles at www.coastnissan.com.

The 2017 Nissan Armada Brings New Life To The Large SUV Class

Nissan Armada 5

The original Nissan Armada was a product of a generation where people were buying Hummers and the bulky utility vehicle was all the rage. But that fad quietly died as people began to value fuel efficiency and sportier design. To keep up with these changes, the Armada has been constantly redesigned and improved to meet consumer needs. The latest 2017 Nissan Armada is the modern adaptation of large and powerful SUVs, and is perfect for those who need plenty of seating and trunk space or the ability to tow tough loads.

The #2017Armada has kept the strengths of early SUV models and combined it with the latest technology and engine developments. It comes with an “Endurance” 5.6-liter V-8 that pours out 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque. This car is handily capable of towing any extras a family may need such as a trailer, jet ski or boat. Nissan has also partnered with two major trailer hitch companies to make attaching your cargo simple and quick. The Armada finely handles any off-road trekking thanks to its all-wheel drive and seven-speed gearbox, and the raw power of the engine roars to life in any situation.

The interior has also benefited from modern design over the years. The second and third rows are spacious and comfortable, and fold down in a pinch for more storage. High-quality leather seating is sure to keep you cozy and look good while doing it. A wood trim lines the car and optional entertainment screen are sure to keep the kids happy.

Nissan Unveils A GT-R For True Racing Fans

nissan performance

When it comes to sports cars, each company works hard to find the right engine and build that really makes the car come alive. For Nissan, its flagship GT-R model that only appeared in March has already been a top seller, thanks to its sleek design and incredible feel. This car has shown such great success that Nissan has recently unveiled a new Track Edition which tweaks the car to provide better performance.

The Track Edition was developed by Nissan’s NISMO racing division, which excels in putting out race ready cars. The crew managed to add some more horsepower and better stability. The engine is a hand-assembled 3.8-1 twin-turbo monster that power out 562 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, slightly above the engine in other GT-R models. This provides top of the line acceleration and speed.

To go along with this extra power, #Nissan altered the design in order to make it as aerodynamic as possible, minimizing the impact of any wind. The straight-line stability and cornering ability has been improved to keep the car on the ground when making the tight turns you can find on the track. Nissan also installed bespoke Bilstein Damptronic suspension and an anti-roll bar which can stiffen up the car but ensures the weight is kept down. After all, what is the point of going fast if you can’t do it safely?

This GT-R track version will first be available in Europe, but Nissan has plans to quickly transition that market to America at dealerships like Coast Nissan. If you need a new sports car, come test drive the Nissan GT-R in any of its forms for an exhilarating driving experience. To check out our complete inventory of new and pre-owned vehicles, visit www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Shows Off New Truck Model At The Hannover Motor Show

Nissan Frontier 3

With the 2017 model year vehicles rolling out to dealerships, it’s never too early to look at what 2018 may have in store. At least, that’s what convention-goers of the 2016 Hannover Motor show may have been thinking as Nissan unveiled a new concept truck named the Navara EnGuard. The truck has a unique look that suits its off-road design, and is expected to be its own car or a look at the #2018NissanFrontier redesign.

The EnGuard appears to be in the same style as the Frontier, but also draws on the Double Cab design of the Nissan Navara, a truck currently only available in Europe. This truck is the perfect model to base a Frontier remodel off of considering it bears the current title of International Pick-up Award. The current Navara has a 2.3-liter 187 hp twin-turbo diesel engine to tow even the heaviest loads, while still managing off-road terrain.

The EnGuard model has a number of improvements on the Navara that would further enhance its off-road capabilities. The base of the truck has been raised in order to provide better clearance when navigating uneven areas, and the wheel arches have bespoke overfenders and side steps between them. The roof also has been raised, and the interior has a navigation system and dual-zone climate control. Lastly, a 360-degree camera gives a bird’s eye view of the surroundings to eliminate the need to exit the car to view nearby obstacles.

Look for this all new vehicle or Frontier update to hit dealerships next year, and for now check out the 2017 Frontier at Coast Nissan. We have a great sales team who would love to assist you in any way and a wide selection of cars. Check out our entire inventory at www.coastnissan.com.
