Nissan Combines Passenger Space With A Powerful Sports Car

Nissan Maxima

Manufacturing and selling a sports car can be tricky business. Most people are looking for power and thrill when driving a sports car, with effortless and quick acceleration. But one of the main drawbacks of most sports cars is their limited passenger seating and general use of a two-door system. After all, why wouldn’t you want to share that exhilaration and thrill with as many people as possible. That’s why Nissan has developed the all-new 2017 Nissan Maxima, aptly named “the four-door sports car”.

The Nissan Maxima is a sports sedan that trades a small amount of sleekness and weight for a plethora of features and spacious passenger seating. This year’s update has mainly worked to improve the interior features and add a few more luxury options. The base model has a brand new audio system, as well as an eight inch display to connect audio, Bluetooth, navigation and satellite radio all in one easy-to-use screen.

The Maxima is available with three upgrade packages: Medallion, Dynamic and Midnight. The Medallion adds a stylish spoiler, larger wheels and accent lighting for the interior and ground. The Dynamic also features a spoiler and 18-inch wheels, but also illuminated kick plates and rocker moldings on the side. The Midnight package brings a brand new look to the car with a sport spoiler, gloss-black wheels and a charcoal interior. The Maxima also comes with Zero Gravity seating made with high quality Ascota leather that also accents numerous other interior features.

Look for this popular combination of sport and spaciousness at Coast Nissan, along with other great Nissan models we have in our current inventory. We want to be your dealership!

Nissan’s Electric Technology Finds A Home On A Small Island

Coast Nissan 1_DCcharging

People are constantly finding inventive and exciting ways to make our planet a little greener. Whether it’s using LED light bulbs or saving water, every little bit goes a long way. Recently, the Channel Island Jersey post office in the United Kingdom has also been doing their part by converting to an all-electric fleet of Nissan eNV200 vans, aimed at reducing emissions by almost 35 tonnes per year.

Channel Island is a small but thriving string of islands off the southern coast of the UK, of which the Jersey is the largest. This small and localized area is the perfect place for any electric car to make a great impact. Electric cars work best over many shorter drives rather than one long distance, and with the Nissan Leaf being the industry leader in mileage per charge, this fleet of vans based on the Leaf’s design are ideal for replacing the standard diesel post-office truck. The 100-mile range is more than enough to get these cars through a day of delivering mail on such an island.

These vans have a number of upsides along with the zero emissions. The electric vans are much more economical than diesel vans, featuring a great warranty, as well as a more reliable engine. Electric engines are more reliable and sturdy than regular engines, meaning less maintenance that could disrupt mail service to businesses and people. The Director of Operations of the post office Andy Jehan added, “the vans are…ideal for the short distance, stop/start driving that the job involves.”

To experience the Nissan Leaf, the inspiration and technological foundation for the eNV200 vans, visit Coast Nissan for a test drive. We have a great selection of new and pre-owned vehicles. Come see for yourself!

Nissan Explores New Design Possibilities With Artificial Intelligence

2016-nissan-altima-interior-leather-wrapped-steering-wheel

Car design is an art form, and remains critical to establishing a brand. Every manufacturer has its own unique lines and shapes that allow consumers to distinguish different companies, much like a painter’s brush strokes. However, with the recent demand for more and more features and tech, creating an all-encompassing design has been getting increasingly difficult. Because of this Nissan is taking a bold step into developing an artificial intelligence that can design a car on its own from pictures and design specifications.

Imagine this: a company wants to add a USB port for charging or playing music to a center display. Sounds simple right? But you can’t just stick it anywhere; it needs to be easily accessible, not displace another button or port and wiring—and software needs to be added to make it run correctly. Every change shifts the entire design, and this is where Nissan’s AI steps in. A computer can much more easily calculate the adjustments and added stress that will be put on the vehicle from a relatively simple change, and with enough data can even correct for this by changing materials or moving other parts. This would happen in a matter of seconds or minutes, which could take days for a human.

While this AI is currently in the testing phase, results are promising. The computer has already been able to create a design for a never before seen car, and while it was not perfect, it’s a strong head start.

To take a look at some of Nissan’s cars designed by human engineers, come visit us at Coast Nissan.  We have a great selection of new and pre-owned vehicles here, and we’re ready to help you find the perfect one for you!
