Nissan Brings Faster Charging And More Range To The New Leaf

Nissan 4 revealed the 2016 LEAF

With Chevy having released the specs for their new Bolt and Tesla continuing to pump out improvements, many have been wondering when Nissan would announce the changes to their electric car, the Leaf. Well wonder no more. With the 2017 update, Nissan has expanded the mileage range and updated the charging speed with a new 30-kWh battery pack.

The #NissanLeaf was the first economic electric car on the market, and it has continued to evolve in efficiency, speed and reliability over the years. For 2017, the previous 24-kWh battery packed was upgraded to a 30-kWh battery that enhances the range from approximately 85 miles to a powerful 107 miles. This is more than enough for most American’s daily needs, which is typically around 30 miles. Even when moving around the kids from school and heading to work, the total distance is well within the driving limits of the Leaf. And in order to help people who want to take longer road trips or vacation drives, Nissan has some helpful developments.

The latest Leaf has DC fast charging technology standard across the whole fleet, which can power you up quickly while on the go. Additionally, many companies, including Nissan, have invested heavily into implementing new fast charging stations in cities all across the country. This way, charging up is fast, easy and cheap, especially with Nissan’s new program which will provide new Leaf owners with free charging at these stations for two years. Say hello to saving not only on gas, but on electricity as well!
