Nissan Rides the Crossover Wave with High Sales in 2016

As customers shift their choice to crossovers, trucks and sport-utility vehicles; the Japanese vehicle manufacturer Nissan Group upped its January sales by a substantial 1.6 percent as compared to the figures posted a year earlier.

While the primary brand Nissan posted a 2.9 percent hike in sales by a whopping 97,220 units; the luxury car manufacturing brand Infiniti sales dipped 11.8 percent to 8,514.

The analysts from Edmunds.com had estimated Nissan Group to post a sales growth of 1.5 percent as against an overall industry dip of 0.5 percent.

Records showed that Nissan registered a growth figure of 18 percent in the month of January for its sales in pickups, crossovers and sport-utility vehicles. The industry trends are indicative of the fact that people have started to prefer the bigger cars over the smaller ones because of the fall in prices of gasoline.

The much popular Nissan Rogue is indicative of the industry craze over crossovers. The fact that the Rogue sales climbed 26 percent is indicative of the above proposition. In fact, unit sales rose to a monstrous 19,762 units. Nissan Rogue has drawn the imagination of a large number of car enthusiasts.

Contrast that with the fact that sales for the mid-size car Altima dropped 16.1 percent to 22,156 units for the same month.
