Last year Nissan announced that self-driving vehicles were not too far away from a reality. In fact the Japanese auto manufacturer said that they would become a commercial reality by 2020. They made a similar promise years ago before they launched electric vehicles – which made them the leader in new technology in previous years. Nissan Chief Executive Officer, Carlos Ghosn, took his comment back from the previous year by saying, “Self-driving cars remain a long way from a commercial reality.” However, Google is ready to push auto manufacturers towards a driverless paradigm – recently, the popular search engine added Ford Motor’s, well respected former CEO, Alan Mulally to its board of directors.
