Be Ready For The Upcoming 2018 Nissan Leaf

With Nissan’s recent public tests of their new autonomous vehicle program with a Nissan Leaf, it’s hard not to get excited for the possibility of a self-driving car in the company’s 2018 lineup. Currently the most likely candidate for the technology is the already tested Leaf, but Nissan has also hinted at the release of a Rogue Sport model that will have some of these features. In addition, Nissan is already giving some sneak peek information about the 2018 Leaf, as well as some extra incentives to switching over right now at dealerships like Coast Nissan.

Since its initial release, the Nissan Leaf has constantly been upgraded and improved each year in order to stay competitive in the electric car category. Because there have been breakthroughs in the technology almost every year, the #Leaf has seen a steady gain in both power and range since its inception. The 2018 model will take the car even further than before, boosting the range over the benchmark of 200 miles. The exterior trim will also become more modern, while still maintaining the hatchback design that allows for more passenger and storage space. It will also feature some, if not all, of the autonomous features debuted in the car’s recent London tests.

Nissan is also offering a limited time promotion for customers with leases that expire in 2017. During the time leading up to the full reveal of the 2018 Leaf, Nissan is offering special easy lease extensions of anywhere up to a year if owners hold onto their Leaf until the premiere. Those that do can get up to three month’s payments for free, and any existing Leaf owner or leaser will be able to upgrade to the 2018 model at a lowered price.

At San Luis Obispo car dealers like Coast Nissan, there are always plenty of incentives and benefits to switching to an electric vehicle like the award-winning Nissan Leaf. You can learn more about our offers and Nissan services online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Pushes For Bolder And More Modern Sedan Look

2017 is already looking to be a fantastic year for car companies and consumers, with a slew of new models and changes being revealed. So much has already happened, from the Consumer Electronics Show to the latest North American International Auto Show, and manufacturers like Nissan have already shown off some interesting prototypes. Nissan’s latest creation is a new concept car that is focused more on visual appearance rather than a high powered engine. Come take a closer look at the V-motion 2.0 model that looks to shake up the sedan class.

Over that last couple of design cycles, Nissan has been putting more emphasis on #personalization and visual beauty. One of the biggest reasons for this is the approach of autonomous cars, which when used will lessen the importance of the driving experience. That’s not to say Nissan models aren’t fun to drive; each car has an engine that is perfectly tuned to maximize performance while still maintaining a high fuel efficiency. The look of a car will always be important, no matter who is driving the car, and this V-motion 2.0 design is certainly eye catching.

Nissan V-Grille

This feature is an improvement on the already established V-motion grille, which can be found on most Nissan models today. This update will stretch the “V” grille further along the front of the car, creating sharp edges and powerful lines, which Nissan describes as, “emotional geometry.” The larger grille also has the added bonus of providing more airflow to the engine, which can naturally cool it down. New lights and glowing LEDs have also been added to indicate when the car is in autonomous mode.

At Coast Nissan, we’re excited about the new technology on the horizon. Step by Step, Nissan Commits to Self-Driving Cars

Coast Nissan 2_selfdrivingautocar

Renault-Nissan will offer vehicles that are able to take control while a car is stuck in a single highway lane in stop-and-go traffic, later this year. In just two more years – as early as 2018, we will see the availability of multiple-lane highway support. And by 2020, the French-Japanese carmaker plans to introduce autonomous vehicles capable of navigating intersections and city driving. When you think about it, four years isn’t that far away. In that timeframe, the company says that it will launch more than 10 vehicles with some form of autonomous driving features. EVP of Engineering, Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, said at a recent press event, “We will implement autonomous driving step by step.” He adds that the company is developing the necessary systems to monitor drivers and make sure that they are ready to take the wheel when necessary. For example, a wristband would monitor vital signs. CEO Carlos Ghosn said that “even a fully autonomous car still needs a driver with eyes on the road and hands on or near the wheel.” He hints at Tesla, saying that “not all electric vehicles …cost six figures,” and he commits that Nissan is focused on electric and self-driving cars for the mass market. “This is a global priority,” which is supported by the fact that the Nissan LEAF represents over 45 percent of EVs on the road.
