Nissan Works To Reduce Cases Of Distracted Driving

While it is just a prototype for now, this new shielded armrest compartment will help drivers avoid checking their phones through a “digital detox.” This small box attaches to the driver’s armrest and blocks the phone inside from receiving any WiFi, Bluetooth or phone signals. This will remove the temptation to constantly be checking for new notifications or text messages, and it still lets drivers use many of the media functions of their device. The #Signal Shield is a smaller version of a Faraday cage, which blocks any electromagnetic signals from entering or exiting the box. When asked about this project, a Nissan spokesman stated that, “Nissan is always looking at new ways of improving the safety and well-being of our customers.”

SLO Wine Festival
