20 Best Under-the-Radar Film Festivals

The #SLOFilmFest occurs annually in March, and this year will be from March 14–19. Last year the festival featured a number of both classic and contemporary films that were gripping and moving. Because of the diverse selection of movies and side events, Dream Vacation Magazine named the festival one of its 20 Best Under-the-Radar Film Festivals of the year. This year will be even more exciting than last, with an exciting lineup of independent, youth and veteran filmmakers scheduled to debut their latest masterpieces.

 

Not Just Great For The Movies

Along with the regular film screenings, there are several noteworthy events to check out during the 6-days the festival runs. The opening night will be kicked off by a Mardi Gras-themed celebration in the Fremont theater. A Festival tent will be set up there as well, with plenty of cocktails and live music to add to the fun. March 15 is the Central Coast Filmmaker Showcase, which highlights films from SLO, Santa Barbara and Monterey. Also be sure to check out the wine and movie pairing events and be on the lookout for some red carpet celebrities to make an appearance.
