The return of the LM P1 race car has been delayed due to a few technical issues that the Nissan Motorsports encountered during the Le Mans 24 Hours race. The race team revealed that the vehicle was experiencing issues with the energy recovery system during the 24 hour race – without this working properly, many of the vehicle’s other systems are compromised. Nissan recently published its earnings for the month of July and its year-to-date records. Not only is the company selling a growing amount of units every month, but it is also crushing its previous year’s records. July was the third month, this year, that is has seen record setting months. As a matter in fact, this past month, the automaker experienced a 6.7 percent increase in units sold compared to July 2014. A few of Nissan’s top performers this past month were the Murano, Altima, and the NV commercial van; respectively, they increased sales by 35.4%, 27% and 24.1%, over the course of the year. Nissan is considering developing a new crossover base on its most popular, eco-friendly model. Doran Racing drivers, Brad Jaeger and B.J. Zacharias, secured their third podium finish this past weekend for the season. At Lime Rock, this past weekend, Zacharias finished the race 0.117 seconds behind the second-place winner, and although the Nissan team didn’t finish in the top two, they did bring home their 3^rd podium finish for the season. After the race, Zacharias said: “I think if we had stayed green, Jade Buford’s tires would have fallen off and given us a shot, but the podium finish is awesome. We just want to get a little higher on the podium. I didn’t have any issues – the car was great. I really have to say that it came down to the pit stops. The Doran team did a great job in the pits. Later this month, Nissan will be competing in the Spa 24 Hours Blancpain Endurance Series. On July 25^th and 26^th, Nissan will compete in the PRO class for the first time in 2015 with the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3. Although Nissan has been in partnership with NEC Corp, its battery supplier, since the development of the Nissan LEAF electric car, the automaker is planning to drop NEC Corp and begin doing business with LG Chem.
