Nissan Reinvents The Hybrid Engine

nissan logo 1

When it comes to brilliant design and new innovations, Nissan is always coming out with something new. The latest endeavor of their engineers is something known as e-Power, which will be present on the all new Nissan Note. It’s a new twist on the typical internal combustion engines that powers most cars, and it operates essentially like a hybrid vehicle. Come explore this latest technological masterpiece that has already found a home in upcoming Nissan cars.

The typical hybrid engine works in a simple way. It still has a regular internal combustion engine, but it is supported by an electric motor that runs off a battery. By using a method known as recursion, the car is able to charge the battery while the car is braking. This ensures great gas mileage for hybrid cars as the engine can rely on both gasoline and electricity, depending on how fast you want to go.

An e-powered car operates a little bit differently. The motor works primarily as a generator, providing electricity which charges the battery. The internal combustion engine itself is not linked to the wheels, but rather an electrical engine is. This is what provides power to get the wheels turning. Most importantly, these changes allow the internal combustion engine to operate at the revs best suited for a lower power consumption, saving on electricity and gas. The best part about these engines is that they can output horsepower levels at the same levels as regular gas powered cars, meaning you don’t have to compromise.

Come See How Nissan Is Changing The Way Businesses Use Company Cars

shutterstock_191693912

Nissan has always been a pioneer in electric car technology. From releasing the first economic electric car to creating the first battery that can propel an electric car for over 100 miles, Nissan is always pushing the boundaries of technology. The company’s latest endeavor has been more focused on creating more efficient and emission free solutions for business, including a brand new fleet of test cars at their research facility in the United Kingdom.

At the Nissan Technical Centre Europe, Nissan is testing a new direct to grid integration system for its electric cars. This small project consists of eight company vehicles that are always plugged in. When an employee needs to go out for whatever reason, they are able to use these electric cars to get to their destination and back. The range on the cars is perfect for the short trips into town or to a meeting at a local restaurant, and being electric cars they produce no harmful emissions. Additionally, this system ensures the cars are always charged and ready to use, unlike a gas powered card which needs to be refueled.

The most important part of this system is its direct grid integration. Because of this, they can both receive electricity as well as give back in times of greater stress. These cars essentially act as extra electrical storage for the larger grid, while still operating like a normal car whenever necessary. Vice president for Vehicle Design and Development David Moss commented, “It gives us the opportunity to showcase to the world how the energy management systems Nissan is developing can work in a real-life business situation.”

Electric cars are quickly becoming the way of the future, so head down to Coast Nissan for a look at the Nissan Leaf. We also have a great selection of the newest Nissan models, and you can find us online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Brings Faster Charging And More Range To The New Leaf

Nissan 4 revealed the 2016 LEAF

With Chevy having released the specs for their new Bolt and Tesla continuing to pump out improvements, many have been wondering when Nissan would announce the changes to their electric car, the Leaf. Well wonder no more. With the 2017 update, Nissan has expanded the mileage range and updated the charging speed with a new 30-kWh battery pack.

The #NissanLeaf was the first economic electric car on the market, and it has continued to evolve in efficiency, speed and reliability over the years. For 2017, the previous 24-kWh battery packed was upgraded to a 30-kWh battery that enhances the range from approximately 85 miles to a powerful 107 miles. This is more than enough for most American’s daily needs, which is typically around 30 miles. Even when moving around the kids from school and heading to work, the total distance is well within the driving limits of the Leaf. And in order to help people who want to take longer road trips or vacation drives, Nissan has some helpful developments.

The latest Leaf has DC fast charging technology standard across the whole fleet, which can power you up quickly while on the go. Additionally, many companies, including Nissan, have invested heavily into implementing new fast charging stations in cities all across the country. This way, charging up is fast, easy and cheap, especially with Nissan’s new program which will provide new Leaf owners with free charging at these stations for two years. Say hello to saving not only on gas, but on electricity as well!

To be a part of the quickly growing electric car craze, head down to Coast Nissan for an exciting test drive. You can also check us out online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan’s Electric Technology Finds A Home On A Small Island

Coast Nissan 1_DCcharging

People are constantly finding inventive and exciting ways to make our planet a little greener. Whether it’s using LED light bulbs or saving water, every little bit goes a long way. Recently, the Channel Island Jersey post office in the United Kingdom has also been doing their part by converting to an all-electric fleet of Nissan eNV200 vans, aimed at reducing emissions by almost 35 tonnes per year.

Channel Island is a small but thriving string of islands off the southern coast of the UK, of which the Jersey is the largest. This small and localized area is the perfect place for any electric car to make a great impact. Electric cars work best over many shorter drives rather than one long distance, and with the Nissan Leaf being the industry leader in mileage per charge, this fleet of vans based on the Leaf’s design are ideal for replacing the standard diesel post-office truck. The 100-mile range is more than enough to get these cars through a day of delivering mail on such an island.

These vans have a number of upsides along with the zero emissions. The electric vans are much more economical than diesel vans, featuring a great warranty, as well as a more reliable engine. Electric engines are more reliable and sturdy than regular engines, meaning less maintenance that could disrupt mail service to businesses and people. The Director of Operations of the post office Andy Jehan added, “the vans are…ideal for the short distance, stop/start driving that the job involves.”

To experience the Nissan Leaf, the inspiration and technological foundation for the eNV200 vans, visit Coast Nissan for a test drive. We have a great selection of new and pre-owned vehicles. Come see for yourself!
