See What’s New In The Upcoming 2018 Nissan Leaf

It may not seem like it, but 2018 car lineups for San Luis Obispo car dealers are approaching fast, and many car companies have already begun spoiling the looks and features of their new models. The 2018 Nissan Leaf is one of the most highly anticipated cars of the new model year, and many experts were curious about the possibility of self-driving features. Nissan has already released a teaser containing a few mysterious photos, but recently the test version of the car was spotted driving down the highway. Come see what you can expect to find on this groundbreaking vehicle before it arrives at Coast Nissan.

Increased Efficiency

Electric cars already require no gas, but different models have different effective ranges that determine how far they can travel without needing to recharge. The 2017 Nissan Leaf had a range of over 100 miles, but the 2018 Leaf is expected to almost double that with a range of about 200 miles. This means longer road trips are possible without needing to stop, and it is much more convenient as a driver. Additionally, the new Leaf will be able to charge faster, and at the many charging stations #Nissan has already set up around the country, you will be able to go from 0% to 80% in about 30 minutes.

Larger Design

With the improvements to battery and car design, the new Leaf will have more seating and trunk space in the back than ever before. The 2018 model resembles a sedan rather than a smaller coup now, and the hatchback design will enable easier access to the rear parts of the car. The design is bolder, sharper and better looking, so be on the lookout for this car soon at coastal Nissan dealerships.

To see how a fully electric car feels when driving on the open roads of San Luis Obispo, hurry in to Coast Nissan. We have a variety of summer savings options, which you can view online along with all our other car models online at www.coastnissan.com.

Save Money This Summer With Nissan’s Fuel Efficient Lineup

With gas prices rising during the summer and more dangerous ozone levels, people are on the lookout for ways to reduce their carbon footprint. There are plenty of easy steps you can take at home; from recycling more often to using fewer plastic bags when you go to the grocery store. Every little bit makes a difference. One of the largest sources of pollution is transportation, and there are many older vehicles that are less fuel efficient than current models. Come in to a San Luis Obispo car dealer like Coast Nissan today and let us show you a few ways that our Nissan models are helping to reduce pollution.

Nissan Rogue

The 2017 Nissan Rogue is the latest addition to Nissan’s #hybrid lineup, and since its release has quickly become one of our top selling cars. The crossover design is streamlined and aerodynamic, which makes traveling on highways or in high winds less taxing on the car. It also means you have the flexibility to choose between extra seating or additional cargo space. The new hybrid engine option on the Rogue boosts its fuel economy to an EPA estimated 34 mpg combined and, thanks to the electric component, driving on city roads is essentially emission-free.

Nissan Leaf

A hybrid engine is more environmentally friendly than a regular combustion engine, but if you want to go truly emission-free, that is a job for an electric car. Thanks to Nissan’s latest battery technology, this small but efficient car can drive for over 100 miles without recharging, and there are plenty of free recharging stations scattered around the country thanks to Nissan’s No Charge To Charge program.

To test drive these two models and see all the benefits they can offer to your daily driving routine, head over to a coastal Nissan dealership. From great customer service to personalized finance plans, we work hard to make sure your car buying experience goes smoothly, so visit us on the web at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Is Still The King Of The Electric Car Market

Nissan Electric

When it comes to electric car sales, the Nissan Leaf has been the reigning champ for many years. It was one of the first commercial electric vehicles introduced, and through its affordable price and extended range it has consistently outsold the competition. Moving into 2017, several companies released brand new electric cars that looked to be contenders for the title, but none have been able to beat the reliability and affordability that the Leaf offers. Come see why a Nissan Leaf from Coast Nissan remains the top electric car on the market.

Since 2008, people like Jose Pontes have been measuring the global market impact of electric cars. He is the primary data source for several technological journals and articles, and his recent EV Sales blog looked at trends from January and February of this year. During this period the Nissan Leaf was by far the world’s best selling #electric vehicle, beating out big names like Tesla and Chevy. In fact, the Nissan Leaf outsold its competitors by about 8,000 units in these two months. This margin is expected to grow even more for the March and April data, as the remodeled 2017 Nissan Leaf was released during this period. The 2017 Leaf has substantially more range and a new cabin makeover.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why the Leaf has performed so well, but there are several factors that have contributed. Its biggest appeal is affordability, which is a big factor for people to consider when making the switch to an electric car. Nissan also provides several incentives with a Leaf purchase, including two years of free charging at the thousands of stations that have recently been installed in major areas.

Nissan Saves Lives With The Nissan Leaf

One of the most commonly talked about benefits of electric cars is their reduced emissions due to not relying on gasoline. This translates into lowered greenhouse gases, fewer pollutants and it even saves you some money at the pump. Electric cars are also quieter and generally safer due to the better integration of the computer with the engine. What you may not know is that electric cars are also making the world a much safer place, and through Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility Initiative, cars like the Leaf are much more practical for everyday drivers. Come see how a Nissan Leaf from Coast Nissan can have a positive impact on the world.

Whenever a disaster strikes, people in the affected area often lose access to important utilities and resources. In this case, they are often stranded and are cut off from essential services due to disasters like floods. While you may think a Nissan Leaf would be just as useless as other cars in this scenario, the #Leaf can actually act as a large battery or generator, giving power back just like how it was charged. Thanks to Nissan’s latest technological innovations, the Leaf can be used to power phones or small heating devices, as well as many cooking appliances.

Because of the Leaf’s adaptability, people stranded by disasters will be able to cook a decent meal while they wait for the figurative or literal storm to pass. This also consumes very little of the Leaf’s battery thanks to Nissan’s remarkable design, so once the roads are clear you and your family can travel safely to a more secure area. Nissan summarized that the Leaf, “can be recharged to work as mobile power sources, avoiding gridlock at gas stations and extending an essential lifeline to isolated areas.”

The 2017 Nissan Leaf will be there for you in both the good and the bad times, much like your local San Luis Obispo car dealer, Coast Nissan. From friendly Nissan service to the best deals on the latest Nissan models, www.coastnissan.com has everything you need to take a Leaf home today.

Nissan Makes Bold Move Into The Car Sharing Market

Anytime you are trying to get around in the city, there are several options, like driving a Nissan Altima from Coast Nissan, taking local electric trams and even getting a taxi. Along with these, there are several successful car sharing platforms running around the U.S., like ZipCar, but none offer access to clean and easy transportation around all major cities. To solve this problem, Nissan has launched its brand-new car-sharing service in Japan, that will quickly expand to North America and Europe. This service will feature use Nissan’s two-seater electric vehicle, which is light, compact and nicknamed “Twizy.”

While there are several benefits to owning or leasing a new or pre-owned Nissan from your local San Luis Obispo car dealer, for people who don’t travel too far for work or vacation it’s easier and more affordable to use a car sharing service. In each city, Nissan will place these vehicles in popular travel hubs, and people can then rent and return them to any of these hubs once they are finished. These hubs also charge the Twizy while it is not in use, and because the #Twizy is light and ultra-compact, drivers will never have to worry about running out of charge.

The Twizy has been in development for a few years by Nissan’s partner, Renault, and after four years of safety and economic testing, they are finally ready to hit the road. They only sit up to two people, but Nissan will likely extend the program in the future to include the Nissan Leaf. The Twizy has a top speed of around 50 miles per hour and a range of 62 miles, perfect for short trips between city destinations. Being electric, drivers will never need to stop by the gas station for a fill up, and they produce much fewer emission than a typical vehicle.

If want a car of your own that can handle city travel and longer road trips, Coast Nissan has the best selection of Nissan’s San Luis Obispo can offer. For a look at all our current offers and models, be sure to check us out online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Unveils New Sports Car and Electric Hybrid

Smart and sport don’t generally go together, especially in the world of cars. Most hybrids or electric cars lack the engine power to provide a stunning and exhilarating level of acceleration, and most sport cars have a low fuel efficiency and fewer technical features. Thanks to Nissan though, you will soon be able to have the best of both worlds. Recently, Nissan unveiled its new prototype EV sports car, nicknamed the #BladeGlider, which will be available in the near future at dealerships like Coast Nissan.

The latest Nissan trailer featured famous actress Margot Robbie, who test drove the car out on a closed race track in Monaco. In the short video, she shows off the incredible maneuverability and speed the sports car shows by piloting the car around one of the most famous corners of the racing world: the Fairmont Hairpin. The car effortlessly glides around the track, highlighting the never-before-seen power of the powertrain electric engine. Manufactured by UK-based Williams Advanced Engineering, this new engine can accelerate the car 60 miles per hour in under five seconds, and can reach a maximum velocity of 115 mph. This latest setup also features two 130 kW electric motors for each wheel that can compensate for understeering through a process known as torque vectoring.

Other notable features of this new sports car include a new seat configuration that has one driver in the front near the “nose” of the car and two seats behind it. This makes the driver feel more immersed in the experience much like an airplane pilot in the cockpit. The #BladeGlider has been in development for over four years, dating back to a concept car in early 2013. Since then it has been refined and improved using the latest in electric vehicle technology, so drivers can both be exhilarated and environmentally comfortable.

Look for this efficient and good looking sports car to arrive soon at dealerships like Coast Nissan, where we offer the best deals on other electric cars like a new or used Nissan Leaf. All our cars are backed by our customer support and five star Nissan service, so give us a call or visit us online at www.coastnissan.com.

Charge Faster And Easier With Nissan’s New Stations

The Best Nissan Cars Ever MadeElectric cars are slowly working their way into becoming more mainstream rather than just some experimental alternative. The technology has grown over the past five years, thanks to partnerships and research into this alternative way of driving that is more efficient and environmentally friendly. Electric cars now aren’t much more expensive than a gasoline powered vehicle, and their seating and trunk space has also been catching up. But one reason that deters many potential drivers is needing to charge the car, and that is why Nissan is making this process faster and more convenient.

We’re excited about this at #CoastNissan.

While the electricity needed to fully charge an electric car is much cheaper than buying gas, the time investment has always been much more. A trip to the gas station takes only about five minutes, but many electric cars have had charge times upwards of an hour. If you are at home this isn’t a big deal as you can just leave it overnight, but for road trips or vacations where a person might need to refuel along the way, it can delay you. Fortunately, Nissan has been installing new dual port DC fast chargers in locations all across the country that can provide an 80% charge in under 30 minutes.

These new 50-kW fast chargers will have your Nissan Leaf ready to go quickly, and are being built around the U.S. as part of Nissan’s No Charge To Charge Program. Best of all, anyone who buys or leases a 2013 or later Leaf will receive two whole years of free charging at these stations. That’s right, you won’t even have to pay for the electricity. Nissan has also partnered with BMW in order to bring this Combined Charging System to even more areas in 2017. Nissan estimates that over 90% of Leaf owners will have easy access to free and quick charging in the coming future.

Nissan Shares Its Vision Of The Future Of Cars

nissan logo 1

The 2017 North American International Auto Show, or NAIAS for short, brought together numerous car manufacturers and designers for some engaging discussions in the future of transportation. CEOs and lead engineers presented in front of large crowds at the event, including Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn. Ghosn is one of the most vocal leaders of the car industry, and in his talk he listed numerous areas that must be addressed in the coming future. Notably, he focused on four topics: electric cars, autonomy, self-driving cars and applications.

Electric Cars: These small but efficient vehicles have been around for a long time, and making sure they are more affordable and have a longer range in the future is critical. A battery powered car has no emissions and can be charged in as little as 30 minutes. The 2017 Nissan Leaf is a great example.

Autonomy and Self Driving Cars: These two are generally grouped together, as #autonomous cars only require minimal human input. Many automakers have pledged to make these commercial available by 2020, including Nissan, and Ghosn urged others to stick to that promise. They will definitely be the face of driving in the future.

Applications: As smartphones become better integrated with cars, we can begin to use them more efficiently than ever. Voice activated commands and the ability to add events to your calendar are just a few of features companies are researching. The possibilities are endless if every car can be connected to each other. It will also make self-driving cars safer if they can communicate with other vehicles.

Nissan has always been a proud innovator and leader, so stop by Coast Nissan today to see why our cars are the best you can buy. Our San Luis Obispo car dealership has all the newest 2017 models along with quick and effective Nissan service, so check us out online at www.coastnisssan.com.

Look For New Sharable Car Stations Powered By The Nissan Leaf

Nissasn leaf

One of the biggest advantages of both electric and autonomous cars is their ability to create a sharable and social rental network. There already exist many bike and scooter rental locations in larger cities that allow tourists and locals to navigate around the cities with ease. It’s not surprising this would eventually extend to cars. The electric cars like the Nissan Leaf offer the perfect opportunity for this new kind of service, and the Leaf’s exceptional range and mobility make it one of the most attractive choices for this role.

For any car that is to be shared amongst people, there are a couple of big requirements. The first is that it must be fuel efficient in order to cut down of fuel costs. Fortunately, you can’t get more fuel efficient than an electric vehicle, as they only use a battery as the source of charge. This means no one person gets stuck having to pay twenty or thirty bucks for a new tank of gas if they want to use the car. Additionally, the car must be easy to drive, so a sedan like the #Leaf is a much better option than a traditionally bulkier SUV or truck.

Already these stations are beginning to pop up around the United States. In Tennessee, you can rent one of these cars for nine dollars an hour or forty-five a day after signing up for the program. This system will make cars more accessible, reduce emissions and most importantly provide a new source of public transportation. The stations you pick up the car are even charging stations, so you never have to worry about running out of juice.

Nissan Looks To Merge Electric Car Platforms With Renault and Mitsubishi

shutterstock_191693912

Electric cars have slowly become more developed over recent years.  They are a viable way to power a vehicle, rather than just a sort of experimental way to cut down on emissions. The steady increase in available battery life and range is responsible for this. It makes these cars much more practical for everyday drivers. There has also been a substantial increase in charging speed and the number of charging stations across the country. To continue this trend of positive growth, Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi are joining forces and merging their electric car platforms.

There are several immediate benefits to these partnerships. For starters, the companies can begin sharing their latest research and tests. Normally, securing funding and even carrying out these experiments takes time, and this should prevent redundant research ventures from consuming resources. Each company also has their own areas of focus, and combining these will ensure the final product is refined and well-crafted. Renault and Nissan have had many successful partnerships in the past. These combined efforts along with Mitsubishi will hopefully jump start a new era of breakthroughs.

The main goal of this collaboration is to eventually slash prices down to the level of comparable gas cars. #Electric cars are normally more expensive than traditionally vehicles, but can quickly make up that difference with various government rebates and the fuel savings. If this group effort can make cars like the Nissan Leaf more cost and fuel efficient, then it can have a positive impact on the environment and lower emissions. The Nissan Leaf has on of the highest ranges currently offered and is already an economic choice for drivers.

For a look at the various incentives and benefits that a new or used Nissan Leaf can provide, come have a chat with our friendly sales team at Coast Nissan. We have a wide selection of 2017 models and Nissan leases, so be sure to find us online at www.coastnissan.com.
