Nissan Brings Faster Charging And More Range To The New Leaf

Nissan 4 revealed the 2016 LEAF

With Chevy having released the specs for their new Bolt and Tesla continuing to pump out improvements, many have been wondering when Nissan would announce the changes to their electric car, the Leaf. Well wonder no more. With the 2017 update, Nissan has expanded the mileage range and updated the charging speed with a new 30-kWh battery pack.

The #NissanLeaf was the first economic electric car on the market, and it has continued to evolve in efficiency, speed and reliability over the years. For 2017, the previous 24-kWh battery packed was upgraded to a 30-kWh battery that enhances the range from approximately 85 miles to a powerful 107 miles. This is more than enough for most American’s daily needs, which is typically around 30 miles. Even when moving around the kids from school and heading to work, the total distance is well within the driving limits of the Leaf. And in order to help people who want to take longer road trips or vacation drives, Nissan has some helpful developments.

The latest Leaf has DC fast charging technology standard across the whole fleet, which can power you up quickly while on the go. Additionally, many companies, including Nissan, have invested heavily into implementing new fast charging stations in cities all across the country. This way, charging up is fast, easy and cheap, especially with Nissan’s new program which will provide new Leaf owners with free charging at these stations for two years. Say hello to saving not only on gas, but on electricity as well!

To be a part of the quickly growing electric car craze, head down to Coast Nissan for an exciting test drive. You can also check us out online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan’s Electric Technology Finds A Home On A Small Island

Coast Nissan 1_DCcharging

People are constantly finding inventive and exciting ways to make our planet a little greener. Whether it’s using LED light bulbs or saving water, every little bit goes a long way. Recently, the Channel Island Jersey post office in the United Kingdom has also been doing their part by converting to an all-electric fleet of Nissan eNV200 vans, aimed at reducing emissions by almost 35 tonnes per year.

Channel Island is a small but thriving string of islands off the southern coast of the UK, of which the Jersey is the largest. This small and localized area is the perfect place for any electric car to make a great impact. Electric cars work best over many shorter drives rather than one long distance, and with the Nissan Leaf being the industry leader in mileage per charge, this fleet of vans based on the Leaf’s design are ideal for replacing the standard diesel post-office truck. The 100-mile range is more than enough to get these cars through a day of delivering mail on such an island.

These vans have a number of upsides along with the zero emissions. The electric vans are much more economical than diesel vans, featuring a great warranty, as well as a more reliable engine. Electric engines are more reliable and sturdy than regular engines, meaning less maintenance that could disrupt mail service to businesses and people. The Director of Operations of the post office Andy Jehan added, “the vans are…ideal for the short distance, stop/start driving that the job involves.”

To experience the Nissan Leaf, the inspiration and technological foundation for the eNV200 vans, visit Coast Nissan for a test drive. We have a great selection of new and pre-owned vehicles. Come see for yourself!

New Charge Program From Nissan Helps Electric Car Owners Save Money

2015 Nissan LEAF

Being more environmentally friendly is a great goal, and there are many easy ways to help out. Anything from recycling to installing more energy efficient lightbulbs can help you save the planet, as well as help out your wallet. An addition to the market within the last few years has been electric cars, which don’t require any gasoline; you just change the battery and drive away. Nissan has been a pioneer in this field with the Leaf, which sports better driving range than any other electric car on the market. Nissan is always looking to help encourage more drivers to make the switch, and their No Charge to Charge programs has brought free charging stations all across America.

One of the concerns for many prospective electric car owners is the need to charge the battery pack after driving for too long. One way to fix this problem is simply to improve the mile range of the cars, which has been continually growing as the technology is better understood and implemented. Nissan is going above and beyond the call, however by installing efficient charging stations for its electric car owners.

These charging stations are located all around the country, with Nissan estimating there are within 10 miles of 90 percent of owners. The Leaf can be powered from 0 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes, thanks to these highly efficient stations, allowing drivers to quickly power up while at the store or at work. All new Leaf owners will receive an EZ-Charge Full Access Card which offers an unlimited number of charges for the first two years at charging locations, which are easily searchable online or through an app. Nissan estimates this will save drivers around $1,000, as well as reduce emissions. To join in on this unparalleled program, come see us at Coast Nissan to experience the Nissan Leaf.

Nissan Teams Up With Uber To Make Driving Cleaner

Nissasn leaf

With all the new taxi and app-based driving services nowadays, getting where you want to go is easier than ever. The advent of services such as Uber and Lyft allow people to easily schedule a ride to and from almost anywhere. These companies allow drivers to use their own cars to earn money and help passengers save money on travel. At the end of August however, Uber partnered with Nissan in order to provide a more environmentally friendly ride through the use of the Nissan Leaf.

Electric cars are a great way to reduce emissions and save on gas, so they are potentially the perfect fit for a worldwide driving service such as Uber. This new program will allow the best-rated Uber drivers to lease the Nissan Leaf at the lowest rental rates instead of being forced to use their own car. The first test of this program will be conducted in the UK, where emission rates are being cracked down on due to the pollution problems in the city. Over a three-month period, The Energy Savings Trust will monitor 20 Nissan Leafs for driving patterns, user experience and the overall economics of using an electric car. As UK Uber Manager Jo Bertram added, “People already associate Uber with hybrid cars, but we want to go a big step further with fully electric cars.”

It’s no secret why the Nissan Leaf is the ideal electric car for this project; the car was a pioneer in affordable and efficient electric car manufacturing. The Nissan Leaf was one of the first electric cars available, and since its debut in 2011 Nissan has only been improving the Leaf through newer technology. For the 2016 model year, the Leaf has the highest range of any electric car, which will help it manage any farther away destinations for Uber. To see how Nissan is breaking ground with this car both in 2011 and 2016, come test drive one for yourself at Coast Nissan.

The Nissan 370z Continues To Amaze With Its Flawless Design

Nissan 370z

Sometimes tried-and-true is simply the best way to go. After all, there has to be a reason behind success. Well, that’s the way Nissan has designed the Nissan 370z. The best-selling sports car has followed the same simple formula for success for 46 years, with critical acclaim and great reviews always in tow. The Nissan 370z is an attractively priced and designed sports car with a powerful engine that inspires with every drive.

It’s not often you can describe a 2016 and 1970 model with the same adjectives. The 370z features a six-cylinder engine, short deck with long hood, a classic fastback roofline and rear hatch in all of its versions. While the car may have received some updates to the on-board computer and improvements to interior seating over the years, not much has changed about the 370z, and that’s a good thing. The design choices have stood the test of time over four decades, and Nissan continues to believe in the great look and feel they offer to every driver.

While other manufacturers have settled for newer engine designs that are smaller and less powerful, the 370z still sports a large-displacement, naturally aspirated and port-injected V-6 engine. This engine doesn’t need any turbo or supercharging to put out the horsepower, torque and rpm range that drivers should expect from a quality sports car. This engine provides flawless turning and precision, along with a quick 0 to 60 mph in just over 5 seconds. The 370z will accurately and quickly navigate curves and turns, with an easy to control and fast responding brake system.

To see why Nissan trusts in this perfected recipe. Come test drive a Nissan 370z at Coast Nissan.

Nissan Leaf Offers Greatest Range And Comfort

Nissasn leaf

The Nissan Leaf was a pioneer in affordable and clean car driving. Arriving on the market in 2011, the Leaf set the bar for electric powered cars. While many car companies now offer their own electric cars, none have the experience and history of the Leaf, and Nissan has adapted the design to best use the newest technology in order to provide a smooth and gasoline free ride.

The most important and practical measure of an electric car is range of driving. Electric cars will eventually run out of charge, so keeping the car going as long as possible is important for consumers. For the 2016 model year, the Nissan Leaf is the leader in driving range, and is the only car that delivers over 100 miles. Electric cars are mainly designed to be a town car, getting drivers from place to place in the city. The Nissan Leaf has no trouble travelling on the highway however, just keep in mind how far you go. It also tested better in energy efficiency than its competitors, getting the most distance for its charge.

A car wouldn’t be anything without great features for drivers and passengers however, and here the Leaf delivers once again. The vehicle sports a spacious interior with generous head and feet room to keep passengers comfy and even includes 24 cubic feet of cargo space to store any luggage. The premium package adds a 360-degree camera and a high quality audio system, as well as heated leather seats for maximum comfort.

The upgraded battery capacity and range sets the Nissan Leaf apart from other electric cars. If you are in the market for a green electric car, come visit us at Coast Nissan to find out more about this one of a kind car.

Step by Step, Nissan Commits to Self-Driving Cars

Coast Nissan 2_selfdrivingautocar

Renault-Nissan will offer vehicles that are able to take control while a car is stuck in a single highway lane in stop-and-go traffic, later this year. In just two more years – as early as 2018, we will see the availability of multiple-lane highway support. And by 2020, the French-Japanese carmaker plans to introduce autonomous vehicles capable of navigating intersections and city driving. When you think about it, four years isn’t that far away. In that timeframe, the company says that it will launch more than 10 vehicles with some form of autonomous driving features. EVP of Engineering, Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, said at a recent press event, “We will implement autonomous driving step by step.” He adds that the company is developing the necessary systems to monitor drivers and make sure that they are ready to take the wheel when necessary. For example, a wristband would monitor vital signs. CEO Carlos Ghosn said that “even a fully autonomous car still needs a driver with eyes on the road and hands on or near the wheel.” He hints at Tesla, saying that “not all electric vehicles …cost six figures,” and he commits that Nissan is focused on electric and self-driving cars for the mass market. “This is a global priority,” which is supported by the fact that the Nissan LEAF represents over 45 percent of EVs on the road.
